The short version. AbScan has no accounts and no logins. Your scan history, your photos, and your plan stay on your device. The one thing that leaves your phone is a photo you choose to scan, which is sent to our AI provider to be analysed and is not used to train anyone's models. We do not sell your information, we do not run advertising, and we do not use analytics or tracking software.
This Privacy Policy explains how AbScan ("AbScan", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use our iOS application. By using AbScan, you agree to the practices described here.
AbScan does not require an account. The following is created and kept locally on your iPhone, inside the app's private storage, and is not transmitted to us:
This information is removed when you delete the app. It may also be included in your device backups if you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups enabled, which are governed by Apple's privacy terms rather than ours.
This is the only part of AbScan that sends your information off your device, so we want to be specific about it.
When you take an abs scan, or photograph a meal for a nutrition estimate, the app sends that single image to be analysed. The image travels over an encrypted connection to a relay server we operate on Amazon Web Services, which forwards it to Microsoft Foundry, where an AI model produces the analysis. The result comes back to your phone and is stored on your device.
Specifically:
Please only photograph yourself, and only when you are comfortable doing so. Do not photograph other people or upload images you do not have the right to use.
With your permission, AbScan reads your step count from Apple Health to show your daily activity alongside your nutrition. This reading stays on your device. AbScan does not write anything to Apple Health, and does not transmit Health data anywhere. You can revoke this permission at any time in the Health app under Sharing, or in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security.
Body composition figures produced by a scan are estimates generated by an AI model from a photograph. They are not measurements, and they are not medical information. See our Terms of Service for more.
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details; we never see or receive them. We receive only the entitlement status that tells the app whether a subscription is active. Apple's handling of your purchase information is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
We rely on the following providers to operate the app. Each is limited to what is described here.
Because AbScan has no accounts, we hold no profile to delete. Everything the app creates lives on your device, and deleting the app removes it.
If you would like to ask about information handled by our providers, or make a request under the laws described in section 9, write to junnam586@gmail.com and we will respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
AbScan is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, or at least 16 where your local law sets that age, and if you are under 18 you should have a parent or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below these ages. If you believe a child has used the app and sent us information, contact us and we will address it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because we do not hold accounts or user profiles, most of these rights are satisfied directly on your device: your information is in your possession, and deleting the app deletes it.
Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom: where we process a scan image, we do so on the basis of your consent, given by choosing to take a scan, and to perform the service you asked for. You may withdraw consent at any time by not taking further scans.
Residents of California: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

Images are sent over encrypted connections, and the credentials used to reach our AI provider are held on our server rather than inside the app. On device, your information sits in the app's private storage protected by iOS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our providers operate in the United States. If you use AbScan from outside the United States, a scan image you choose to send will be processed there.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use AbScan after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
